What are Refractive Errors? (Nearsightedness & Farsightedness

Nearsightedness is a common condition in which you see nearby objects clearly but objects farther away are fuzzy. It can develop gradually or quickly, especially in childhood or adolescence, and often runs in families. Farsightedness is another common problem in which you see distant objects clearly but those nearby are blurry. It usually occurs at birth and runs in families too. Both problems result when your cornea (the front clear surface of your eye) or lenses (the clear structure inside your eye that changes shape to focus on objects) aren't curved evenly or smoothly, like a rubber ball.
